Basic Concepts

Civic Association – a legal form of an organisation founded in accordance with the Citizens’ Grouping Act No. 83/1990, and Act No. 40/1964 of the Civil Code.

Non-Profit-Making Organization – a legal form of an organisation founded in accordance with the Non-Profit-Making Organisations Act No. 248/1995.

Micro region – a clearly determined area with set boundaries formed by administrative areas of more than one local authority associated in a union of local authorities.

Association of Local Authorities – a legal form of an organisation – of a voluntary union of local authorities– established in accordance with the Local Authorities Act No. 128/2000.

LAG – Local Action Group – an entity with a legal personality (most often a civic association or a non-profit-making organisation) working at a micro regional or regional level. It works on the basis of the Leader approach built on partnership principles. In its composition all entities of a local partnership are represented: public administration, the business community and NGOs. Private entities – business people and NGOs - predominate in the structure.

Strategy – a written document comprising several parts: a professional analysis of the area, a SWOT analysis, a development strategy and activities and measures fulfilling the development strategy.
